Friday 19th July
I started the weekend with a gig at one of the friendliest pubs I know, The Dolphin Inn, Llanymynech. I’ve mentioned this place on here before but it really is one of my favourite places to play.
After a reasonably chilled first set and a short break, the audience had clearly drank a few more beers in time for set two... We had plenty of dancing and singing and several of the locals even got up on the microphone with me. Another great night in Llanymynech and I’m looking forward to being back there again on 9th August.
Saturday 20th July
I was up bright and early on Saturday morning to get back to The Wirral in time for my slot at The Viking’s Summer Fete. I also had a new guitar to pick up on the way, a little Gretsch parlour guitar that’s going to be ideal for travelling with and shouldn’t take up too much space in the camper!
The sun stuck around for my set at The Viking and I even managed to bag a prize (didn’t know it was even a competition until a few days beforehand!).
After watching and mingling with some other great acts at The Viking I packed up and made my way to Thornton Hough to watch my good friend Cal Ruddy play. He was supporting Seafoam Green who put on an absolutely phenomenal show that I would’ve been happy to pay a whole lot more to have watched, but at only £9 a ticket this was probably the best value gig I’ve ever been to! They play a sort of blend of Psychedelic/Country/Folk/Blues/Rock (to my ears) and it’s absolutely brilliant. I thoroughly recommend giving them a listen and trying to catch them live.
Sunday 21st July
On Sunday it was time for a nice chilled out gig at The Hilton, Liverpool. It was a lovely afternoon and the Women's Netball World Cup Final had just finished in Liverpool so that brought in a pretty good crowd!
I’ll be back at the Hilton on 31st August if not another Sunday afternoon in the meantime.
I didn’t get home until late on Sunday night so we had our night off/weekend chill on Monday and went to the cinema to see The Lion King. Nostalgia was high and the film was great!
I hope at least somebody is enjoying these blogs, but they’re as much for me as they are you – a way of me keeping a little diary of everything that is going on as it can all be a bit of a blur sometimes!
Oh and I’ve also ordered another new guitar which may well feature in the next blog.
It’s a Gibson, and I’m very excited.
